# Binomial Expansion – 3.5.16

Hi all,

Well done for the work in this topic – you’ve all done brilliantly and have completed C2 now – yay! See the Revision blog for ideas and resources, and comment below if you have any particular requests for revision lessons. Otherwise, just keep the past papers coming. Remember that your Chapter 4 assessment average was over 88% which is superb!

Your homework from today was to finish off the Mixed Exercise (5E) and I will collect that in along with you Ex5C and 5D on Friday. Your assessment is due on Tuesday.

Some common binomial mistakes are given below:

For extra work/extension work, see these 1951 exam questions: here and here as well as this Oxford Maths Aptitude Test question here.

See you on Friday,

Mrs Shaw

# Equation of a Circle – 15/4/16

Hi all,

On Friday’s lesson we continued with our co-ordinate geometry work by investigating the equation of a circle, before you had a go at lots of activities helping you to remember this.

The first task asked you to match up the cards below from here and put them into the table, before filling in the blanks.

If you’d like to have a look at some extension work, see this “Teddy Bear” activity from Underground Maths.

I was really impressed with the quality of your homework from Tuesday’s lesson and I look froward to collecting your Exercise 4D work on Tuesday.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend,

Mrs Shaw

# Co-ordinate Geometry and Revision

Hi all,

Thanks for making such a positive start to the new term. You worked really hard today and managed to cope with all of the ideas really well. If you need any extra revision notes to help with your homework, see: C2 Ch4 notes. Don’t forget to ensure that you have completed all of the homework set today (selected questions from Exercise 4A, 4B and 4C) and marked/annotated it by Friday P1 – thank you!

I hope that you like your mathscards – click on the link if you’d prefer it as an app.

Next lesson we’ll start looking at the equation of a circle, feel free to read ahead in your textbook to familiarise yourself with the content. Don’t forget to ensure that you have completed all of the homework set today (selected questions from Exercise 4A, 4B and 4C) is done and marked/annotated by Friday P1 – thank you!

In terms of revision resources, remember to look at this post again.

I’m now going to try to put a countdown timer to the exams onto the blog – not long now!

# Easter Work

Hi all,

Well done on your work today – hopefully you found it really useful to go through some of the questions – and I only ever gave you a tiny prompt to get you started – you did 99% of the work 🙂

• Complete the assessment
• Complete the circled questions on this sheet (worked solutions available here)
• Have a look through the mixed exercise questions which we didn’t get chance to look at today (worked solutions available here).

Please comment below if you get stuck with anything – I’ll get back to you asap.

Have a lovely Easter and well done on a superb half term,

Mrs Shaw

P.S. I spoke to IT and you should now be able to access the blog at school.

# Logs Update – Important!

Hi all,

As you know, this week I won’t have seen you at all, and next week I will only see you on Tuesday 😦

Since you’ve being doing so well on the individual logs exercises and producing superb homework, I thought it might be worth you trying to get you to work through the mixed exercise and complete the assessment for Tuesday, to allow me to mark it and you could make corrections over Easter.

However, it is a bit of a BEAST of a mixed exercise (we’d usually have spent those 2 lessons on it), so we will now spend Tuesday’s lesson looking at it and there will be heaps of extra questions that you can try if you have completed it. You can also complete your assessment in the lesson. Please ensure that you have had a go at ALL of the questions before the lesson though.

Thanks superstars,

Mrs Shaw

P.S. Reminder to those of you who I emailed about the folder work trawls – please bring in asap.

# End of Logarithms/Cover Work/Revision Idea

Hi all,

You’ve done really well on the logs work over the last couple of weeks – very well done 🙂

Last lesson you were using the “change of base” formulae for logs and completing the last exercise.

As I’m not in on Tuesday and you have Enrichment Day on Friday, your cover work is:

• Complete the Ch3 Mixed Exercise
• Complete the Chapter 3 Assessment.

Best of luck with it – remember P6s are still on or you can comment below for hints.

Thanks,

Mrs Shaw
